Jo Sue Burns Porter, 85, of Arizona went home to be with the ones that were waiting for her in Heaven on Saturday, September 6, 2003. She began her glorious journey at her residence.
Sue grew up in Wears Valley and had attended the Wears Valley Methodist Church for the many years that she lived in the valley.
Waiting for her in Heaven is her husband, Larry Porter; parents, Joe and Carrie Burns; brothers, John and Bill Burns; sisters, Josephine Burns and June Jones and her husband, Dale.
Left behind to mourn her passing is her children, Tom Porter of Arizona, Nancy McCullough and husband Dave of Montana; grandchildren, Carrie and Stephanie Schara; sisters, Geneieve Carr and husband Paul of Winchester, TN, Freda Fox of Sevierville; sister-in-law, Ruth Burns of Sevierville. Besides the immediate family, Sue leaves behind several nieces, nephew, cousins and a host of friends whose life she has touched during her stay in this world.
Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2003 at Wears Valley United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Mattox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11 in the Davis Room of Rawlings Funeral Home.
