Hazel Latham, 97, of Sevierville went home to join other members of her family who are waiting for her in heaven. She began her glorious journey at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center in Sevierville.
Hazel was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Sevierville and was active in the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class. Besides her activities that were church related, she enjoyed attending the Sevierville Senior Group. She was the last surviving child of George and Partie Giles Wilson.
Waiting for Hazel for a glorious reunion is her husband of 56 years Sam Latham; parents, George and Partie Giles Wilson; children, Jerry, Johnnie Mae and Maxine Latham; 1 grandchild; siblings, Carl, Clyde and Cecil Wilson, Hassie Reed and Hattie Hodges; daughter-in-law, Marie Latham; sons-in-law, M.C. Kerr and Lawrence Ford.
Leaving behind to mourn her passing but celebrating her life are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Ruth Latham of Knoxville, Roy and Gail Latham of Lawrenceville, GA, Jack and Linda Latham of Seymour; daughters, Aliene Kerr of Sevierville, Imogene Ford of Seymour; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Olive Latham and Cora Lee Latham, Lela Wilson, Lucy Rogers, Kate Dunaway and Olive Evans. Besides the immediate family, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends whose life she has touched will miss Hazel.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church of Sevierville with Rev. H.B. Hauk officiating. Interment will follow the service at Shiloh Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, January 10 at Rawlings Funeral Home and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11 prior to the service at the church.
Dennis, Rick, Doug, David, Andy, Ted, H.V., Jimmy, Gary, Kent, and Benny Latham, Charles Rule, Bill and Johnny Wilson and Bryan Wright have the honor of serving as pallbearers for Hazel Latham.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sevierville Building Fund, 214 Cedar Street, Sevierville, TN 37862, 865.453.5754.
