Mildred W. Justus, age 84 of Sevierville, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017.
Mildred was highly devoted to her husband John, Sr. and her two children, Kathy and John, Jr. In return, her family members individually exhibited a high level of respect and love for her.
Mildred was well educated with a B.S. Degree, a Master’s Degree and worked toward a Doctorate, which stopped when she met John, Sr., got married and had two children. Using the skills from educational achievements, she taught in elementary education for 42 years: 12 years in Tennessee and 30 years in Volusia County, Florida. On one occasion while she taught she was voted the Teacher of the Year.
Mildred loved to travel which is shown by the list of travel spots visited: Alaska, the British Isles, Northern Ireland, Russia, China, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Italy, the Vatican, Germany, France, Finland, Caribbean Countries and Canada. Also, many states within the United States of America were visited. She was caused to cancel a trip to Australia because of a health problem.
Mildred rated Christianity, including church activities, at the top of the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE. She loved to sing and play the piano. She especially loved to sing in the church choirs where she was a Presbyterian church member. One of her favorite sayings was “Everyone should go to church on Sunday”.
Mildred is survived by her husband John Ed Justus, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law John Justus, Jr. and Denny Justus; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Jeff Paes; and sister Wanda Barron. Mildred had many special, special, special friends in Sevier County, Monroe County, and elsewhere, including Joyce Franklin in Friendsville.
