Mr. Jonas David Starkey , age 80, of 2811 Omah St., died Monday in Duke Medical Center.
A native of Sevierville, Tenn., he had lived in Durham for the past 58 years. Mr. Starkey was in the U.S. Army for eight years, serving during World War II.
He owned and operated Starkey Paint and Drywall Company for many years. He was a member of Guess Road Baptist Church and active in the V.F.W.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Peterson Starkey ; one granddaughter, Kathy S. Bobbitt, of Durham, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:0 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, section 13. Officiating will be the Rev. Gary Byrd.
Pallbearers will be Todd Bobbitt, Marc Miller, Leroy Miller, Chester Perry and Jim Palmer.
