BESSIE WHILLOCK, - age 83, of Strawberry Plains, passed away at 11:27 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Saint Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville following a brief illness. Mrs. Underwood was a member of the Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville and was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anne Whillock; sister, Tina Huffaker; and brother, Roy Whillock. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, L.D. Underwood of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and John Lee of Strawberry Plains; grandson, Danny of Strawberry Plains; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Donna and Tom Koerner of Clinton; sisters, Una French of Dandridge and Bernice Massengill of Knoxville; nieces, Delorise West, Shirley Strange, and Charlotte Woods; nephews, Edgar French, J.T. Whillock, Jerry French, David Huffaker, and Greg Massengill; several other relatives; and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, June 19, 2000, from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Reverend Tim Tatum and Reverend Bob Peek officiating.
