Geraldine Huffaker Bailey
Geraldine Huffaker Bailey age 85, born August 25, 1923 in Sevier County. Went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2008 at Ft. Sanders Sevier Nursing Home in Sevierville, TN. Geraldine was member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. She was a member of the Kodak Chapter #460 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Geraldine was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College and an educator in the Knox County School System for 38 years. She taught at Midway, Spring Hill and Carter Schools .
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Bailey, Jr.; parents, Emert Huffaker and Flora Hodges Huffaker; brothers, Bud Huffaker and wife Ida Huffaker; Jim Huffaker and Vaughan Huffaker. Sister and brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Mayford Blazier. Survivors include her children, Daughter, Landra Bailey of Knoxville; Son, Rudy Bailey and wife, Judy, of Kodak; Step -grandson, Jason Lawson and wife, Stephanie and son, Brian. Sisters, Adell Russell and husband, Jack of Straw Plains; Alta Garrett of Straw Plains; Tillie Whaley of Halls; sister-in-law, Barbara Huffaker of Powell; sister and brother-in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. George Cates; Mr. & and Mrs. Allen Webster and Mrs. JoAnn Hodges, several Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to express special gratitude to the employees and staff of Ft. Sander’s Sevier Nursing Home for their excellent care.
Services will be held 6:00 p.m. Saturday September 6, 2008 in the old Sanctuary of Beech Springs Baptist Church in Kodak, TN with Rev, Jerry Vittatoe and Brandon Cate officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday September 7, 2008 in Beech Springs Cemetery. The family will meet at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the church to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Beech Springs Baptist Church prior to the service.
