James David "Nub" Holland, age 48 of Seymour, born September 17, 1965, went to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN. He gave his life to the Lord at age 7. James was an active member of Sevier Lodge No. 334 in Seymour, TN. He was initiated November 14, 2000, passed January 16, 2001, and raised February 23, 2001. James was also a member of The Knoxville Scottish Rites Bodies, and was a long time employee of Finchum Sports Flooring in Seymour, TN. He served his country proudly for the U.S. Army and was actively involved in the youth sports association by umpiring. James loved the Denver Broncos and anything with Tennessee sports.
He was preceded in death by his father; William E. Holland, brother; Lloyd O. Holland, grandparents; Lloyd E. and Opal Holland, William O. and Mabel Mathews, aunt; Wanda Reagan, uncles; J.E. "Smiley" Mathews, James "Buddy" Cates, and Delbert Holland.
He leaves behind wife; Rebecca Weaver Holland, son; James Caleb Holland, daughter; Jyssika Hudgens (Ellis), mother; Genell Mathews Holland, mother-in-law; Sandra Weaver, brother; John Holland, sister and brother-in-law; Janis and Dewey Gibson, and brothers-in-law; Mike and Rusty Weaver. He also leaves 7 aunts and uncles; Lovetta "Witty" Cates, Janis Hewitt, Helen Mathews (Tipton, IN), Jim and Betty Mathews, Lynn and Betty Jo Helton, great aunt; Annie Baker, and great-great aunt; Dorothy Lee Latham. Special friends include Larry Finchum, David Lamon, and Harold McCarter. Along with many very special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We have lost such a great man but we will carry the wonderful memories that you have given us in our hearts forever. You will be greatly missed by everyone and the Lord has another strong angel by his side. We know that you are greeted by many loved ones as you walked through the gates and am sure that you were smiling as you saw your dad and brother waiting for you to join them with their arms wide open. You were an amazing son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and Husband, and we thank you for that, Nub.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Mtn. View Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1406 Walt Price Rd. Sevierville, TN 37862.
Pallbearers: Caleb Holland, Aaron Dunlap, Joey Holland, Edward Holland, Brandon Perry, Larry Finchum, Harold McCarter, David Lamon, Tristin Morin, and Dennis Bennett.
Masonic service 7PM Monday with funeral service following in Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Pastor Dana Fachman and Rev. Bill Helton officiating. Interment 10AM Tuesday at Mtn. View Cemetery.
