Luther Holbert, Jr. (known to all as J.R.), age 72 of Sevierville, died Thursday, February 20, 2003. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean Conflict. He served his county as a constable and his community of Wears Valley as a school bus driver.
His greatest accomplishment was being a loving husband to wife Gloria Holbert;
A great dad to his children: Michael Holbert and wife Julie; Barbara Williams and husband Junior; Vicki Loveday and husband Mike; Steve Holbert and wife Evelyn
He is also survived by:
Six grandchildren
Three great-grandchildren
Sisters: Zelta McCutcheon of Ohio; Ernestine Stinnett of Sevierville
Brothers: Olin Holbert of Sevierville and Everett Holbert of Jefferson County
Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He will be greatly missed.
Funeral service 3 PM Sunday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. David Travis officiating. Interment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
