She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church and was retired from the medical profession after 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben J. and Grace Allen McNew; brothers, Arnold N. and R.J. McNew; and sister, Tressie E. Fisher. She is survived by her husband, James H. Hodges of East Ridge; daughter, Judy Hodges Winfrey of New Orleans, La.; sons, James M. Hodges of East Ridge and John C. Hodges of Chattanooga; granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Byrd; grandson, Michael Stacy Hodges ; great-grandson, Jacob Byrd; an aunt, cousins; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. [S147] Find a Grave, (Memorial: 149727732).
