Mary Ruth Hicks Pinkston, age 83, of South Knoxville, passed away January 5, 2016 at Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mary Ruth a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother is at peace after a lengthy battle with dementia. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by son, Johnny Marshall Pinkston; parents, John Dexter Hicks and Eliza Hicks Lowe; grandsons, infant Neubert, and Jason Lee Neubert; sister, Lousie Houser; beloved husband of 59 years, Marshall B. (Tony) Pinkston, Jr. Survived by son, Mark Pinkston; and daughters and son-in-law, Pamela and Duane Daugherty of Nashville; Susie Campbell and Judy Neubert; 12 grandchildren, Adam and Aaron Davenport, Samantha Coltrane, Shannon Mitchell, Chase Daugherty, Johnny and Brad Neubert, Taylor Pinkston, Scott Hamilton, Sarah, Sawyer and Silas Campbell; 12 great-grandchildren, brothers–in-laws and sisters-in-law; Kermit Houser, Mary Belle Price, Daris Pinkston, Missy (Doris) and Jerry Cantrell, Bill and Pam Pinkston, Joycann and Ron Lane; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 for a graveside service. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
