Jess Henderson, 88, of Grassy Fork, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 20, 2005, at his daughter's residence. He was a farmer and a Baptist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vona Henderson; daughter, Ruby Bugg; sons, Jr. Rail (Timer) and Larry Henderson; parents, Thomas and Annie Henderson; brothers, William Medas and Hubert Henderson; sisters, Cindy and Nila Mooneyham, Rhoda Brown, and Lizzie Williams.
Jess is survived by his sons, Gene Henderson, of Grassy Fork; Tillman Henderson, of Grassy Fork; and Glenn Henderson and his wife, Marlene, of Del Rio; daughters, Wilma Coggins, of Parrottsville; Judy Schluth and her husband, Bill, of Talbott; and Ann Hall, of Newport; sister, Dale Stidhman, of N.J.; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; and thirty-one great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Henderson will also be missed by special friend, Zola Steelman; several nieces and nephews and a host of other special friends.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grassy Fork with the Rev. Max Phillips and the Rev. Reggie Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Henderson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday starting at 1:00 p.m. at the residence at 3913 Grassy Fork Road, Hartford, Tenn., until the funeral time on Wednesday. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. Jess Henderson.
