MEBANE, ELIZABETH ANN - of Knoxville, born September 10, 1940, educated in the Knoxville School System, where she attended Austin High School. After graduation she married the love of her life, Sgt First Class Percy Mebane; from this union they were blessed with four children. Elizabeth spent many years traveling the U. S. and abroad, supporting her husband's passion for the military life. She was well known throughout the community for her culinary skills. She successfully owned and operated the Do Drop Inn and the Pitch Fork Drive-in for many years. Liz was widowed in 1971, and later met Eugene Smith and from this union was blessed with one child. Employed by Alpha tau Omega and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternities, for over twenty-five years. Member of Family House of Prayer in Maryville, TN. Liz leaves to honor her life, children, Mary Katherine Mebane, Doretha (Dee Dee) Walker, David "Junebug," Anthony Mebane, Patricia Ann Benn and Brandie Latreece "Missy" Mebane; brother, Curtis Emmanual "Duke" Lane; son-in-law, Dwayne Benn; daughter-in-law, Sheron Nicole Mebane; adoring grandchildren, Patricia and Kevin Walker, Dwayne, Doretha and Elizabeth Benn, Travis Fine, Chris, Kristin, Percy, and David Mebane, Jr.; Kansas City family, William, Betti and Cecily Williams, a host of nieces, nephews and friends to include, Wilma Mason, Norman Willis, Charles Russell and Rev. and Mrs. James Hodges. Special thanks to all the caregivers. Family will receive friends, 11:00-11:30 a.m., Friday at Jarnigan's Chapel; funeral service, 11:30 a.m., Rev. Varnell Benn, officiating.
