McNutt was born in Tennessee on Aug.9,1824. in the 1850 Census he was living in the home of James Wesley and Jane Randals Ellis. His occupation was listed as Physician. Later in the same year he married Mary Burns daughter of Wilson Burns. Two children were born to this union: (1) Mary Elizabeth who married S. M. Hammer; (2) Margaret who married 1st a Gilmer, and 2nd J. M. Fagala. Dr. McNutt died Nov.14,1861, at the age of 37, and is buried in Trundle's Cemetery, His widow married David W. Payne of Knox County office to Sevierville, but was living in Pigeon Forge at the time of his death March 30,1932.
