He was born to Ray and Hettie Guffey of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Stella Rogers and Reba Lamon, ex-wife, Roberta Jean Guffey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his best friend and long-time companion, Naomi Amburn; son, Carl L. Guffey and wife, Elaine; daughter, Diane Rogers; and grandson, Richard Lee Baker, two great-granddaughters; brothers, Virgil, Edward, Johnny Ray and Bobby Lynn; sisters, Barbara and Sandra.
