Ray S. McCoig, 73, of Sevierville died Monday, April 26, 2004 at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. After many years of service, Ray retired from the Cherokee Textile Mill.
Preceding Ray in death is his son, Kenneth McCoig; parents, John and Ida Smelcer McCoig; brothers, Ken, Carl and Alger McCoig; sisters, Ethel Gregge and Ella Walker.
Leaving behind to mourn his passing but celebrating the life he lived is his wife, Louise Green McCoig; daughter, Diane McCoig; granddaughter, Cindy James; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Destry, and Hunter James; sisters, Katie Lewis, Blanche Webb; sisters-in-law, Bradene and Betty McCoig, Eunice Reagan, Zelma Franklin and husband Jim; brother-in-law, Glen Walker; mother-in-law, Onie Green. Besides the immediate family, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends whose lives he has touched will miss Ray.
Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andy Miller and Rev. Ed Parton officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night in the Davis Room of Rawlings Funeral Home.
