Louise M. Shults, 90, of Sevierville went home to be with the loved ones who have been called home before her on Sunday, June 29, 2003. Louise began her journey at her residence surrounded by many of the family who loved her.
Mrs. Shults was a long time member of the Waldens Creek Baptist Church where she raised her family. She was a Gold Star Mother, which is awarded to any mother whose son was killed in the military. Louise would have celebrated her 74th anniversary on June 29, 2003.
Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert James Shults; parents, William Gilbert and Caldona Ogle Manis; children, Edward and Von Shults and Carol Jean Shults; brothers, Luther, Roscoe and Sam Manis; sisters, Flora Reagan and Myrtle Brackins.
She is survived by her children, Christine Bean, Herman Shults and wife Shelda, Julia Thompson and husband Audley, Velma Ogle and husband Shelby, D.H. Shults and wife Johnnie, James Shults and wife JoAnne, Betty Kaye Ownby and husband Ellis, Bill Shults and wife Brenda, Kathy Williams and husband Ed; 25 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; brother, James Manis and wife Ruby; daughter-in-law, Wilma Shults.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Waldens Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Helton and Rev. Edward King officiating. She will lie-in-state from 1-2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at Waldens Creek Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 1 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
Louise’s grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother. The granddaughters have the honor of being flower girls for the service.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Covenant Hospice and a special thanks to granddaughter Ellen Lamkey who is an R.N. that had the privilege of assisting her grandmother during her final days.
