Jacob B. Ridenour was born in
the state of Maryland Nov. 23, 1827 and died Aug. 31, 1916 at the homeof his son, Ernest near Mallard at the age of 88 yrs, 9 months, and 8 days. When a small boy, his parents moved to Cedar co., Iowa where he resided until 1880, when he moved with his family to Greene co., and in 1895 he went to Palo Alto co., to make his home with his son Ernest. He had been married 3 times and was the father of 9 children 2 died in infancy; 7 grew to man and womanhood. Melvin, Amanda, and Eva proceded him to the Great Beyond, while George W. of Lake City, William C. of Des Moines, Mrs. Alice Hopkins of Lenox, and Ernest G. of Mallard survive him. The funeral was held Friday afternoon and interment made at Rochester, Iowa.
