FLORIDA--Delmar F. Williams, age 87, Land O'Lakes, Fla., passed away Friday afternoon, Oct 13th, at home, under Hospice care. He was married to the late Trula Wilson Williams for 60 years. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley P. and Julia Valentine Williams, of Tampa, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancylynn and David Lockman, of Kernersville, N.C.; 2 granddaughters, Eia Lockman, of Kernersville, N.C., and Tamara Lockman, of Atlanta, Ga. Also surviving are sisters Mabel Cureton, of Cosby, Tenn., and Melba Edwards ,and brother, Jack Williams. A native of Cosby, Tenn., Delmar was a longtime citrus farmer - having purchased his first citrus grove in California in 1941. He lived in Land O'Lakes since 1961 and was an active Pasco County resident. He served on several corporate boards and belonged to numerous organizations; among them being Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce, Land O'Lakes Chamber of Commerce, the D.P. Club of San Antonio, Central Pasco Action Committee, Florida Power Business Advisory Panel, Florida Citrus Mutual, Winter Haven Co-op, Florida Mutual Citrus Board, Financial Board of Myrtle Lake Baptist Church. He served on the Pasco County Farm Bureau Board for 14 years and he was also a founding stockholder in Heritage Bank. Delmar established Wilco Oil Co. in Virginia. He was the Marketing VP for Conoco Deutschland, Director Retail Marketing, UK and Managing Director of Conoco Ireland. Delmar served as a member of the Civil Conservation Corps and fought in WWII in the US Army Air Corps as Lead Navigator, 8th Air Force, Flying Fortress Group under Colonel Preston. He was promoted to Major at age 24, survived 28 combat missions, received several medals for valor and is credited with having shot down 3 fighters in one day, as a Navigator. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov 1st at Blount and Curry Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave., Tampa.
