July 13, 1922 - April 17, 2017 Born in Sevier County, TN Resided in Seymour, TN Mary Jane Gilbert Manis, 94, of Seymour passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church for over 58 years. Mary loved her church family and especially enjoyed working in the church nursery. She cherished the special friendships that developed in her later years with the ladies in the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edward Manis; infant son, Gerald Edward Manis; parents, Joseph White and Arlettia Mae Benson Gilbert; five brothers, James, Charles, J.R., Ed, and Jack; three sisters, Ida Moore, Lettie Trent, and Katherine Trentham; and her grandson, Michael Daniels. Mary is survived by her daughter, Frankie Easterday and husband, Bob; grandson, D. Dwayne and wife, Linda Daniels; wife of her deceased grandson and mother of her great-grandchildren, Tanya Johnson Daniels; great-grandchildren, Nathan Daniels and Kailey Daniels; sisters, Polly Trentham and husband, Ira; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Nelson. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the Valley Grove Baptist Church Mission Fund, 9000 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2:30 PM Thursday, April 20th with the funeral service to follow at 2:30 PM in Atchley's Seymour Chapel, 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, TN.
