He worked at Vulcan Material’s Newport Plant and had been with the company 21 years. Previously, he worked for Charles Blalock and Sons and many will remember him as a young man when he worked for Cas Walker’s Sevierville Store. He was also a Vietnam Veteran. He was preceded in death by his father, Bates Gibson, Jr., infant brother, Daniel Mark Gibson, grandparents, Bates and Edna Gibson, and Ed and Belle Tipton. Survivors: Wife of 37 years: Sarah Moncrief Gibson Daughter and son-in-law: Tammie and Danny Browning Son and daughter-in-law: Chad and Christy Gibson Beloved Grandchildren: Cole Gibson and Olivia Browning Mother: Eunave Gibson Sisters and brother-in-law: Geraldine and Earnie McGill, Lori Gibson Brothers and sister-in-law: Hank Gibson, Steve and Cathy Gibson Extended loving family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins The family wants to express their gratitude for the love and care he received from Dr. Grapski and staff at Thompson Oncology Group, the doctor and nurses at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center and Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. Funeral service 7 PM Thursday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Pierce officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 AM Friday for interment in Millican Grove Cemetery.
