Dorothy Leola Wardell, age 84, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012. She was born August 19, 1927 in Blount County, TN. She was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church of Seymour, TN where she taught Sunday School and served in many other volunteer capacities. Leola was a woman of vibrant Christian faith who raised all of her children to love and serve Jesus Christ. She exercised a servant’s heart toward others, most notably her immediate family who benefited from the dignity she gave to her full time role as wife and mother. Her stable temperament and sense of humor helped create a winsome environment in the home. Her laughter was a priceless gift.
Leola was preceded in death by her husband J. B. Wardell, Jr.; parents, Birtle and Lena Mae Loposser Garner; brother, J. P. Garner.
Leola is survived by three sons and a daughter: Dale Wardell, Tony (Karen) Wardell, Phil (Kimberly) Wardell and Dolly (Terry) Powell; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. W. A. Galyon and Dr. Terry Powell officiating. Interment 12:30 PM Thursday in Highland South Cemetery with Mark Powell, Stephen Powell, Ruble Welch, Greg Garner, Brian McCarter and Stephen Braden serving as pallbearers.
