Ralph Edgar Galyon, age 83 of Sevierville and formerly of Pigeon Forge, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, June 6, 2014. Mr. Galyon loved his family dearly and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a wonderful Christian man and was an ordained deacon and of the Baptist faith. Ralph was an employee of Sevier County Utility District for 30 years. He once said that the closest place to Heaven on Earth is at the flea market.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Pauline Galyon; brother, Ray Galyon; granddaughter, Shannon Gay Galyon; and sister-in-law, Mary Helton.
He is survived by
Loving and devoted wife of 49 years: Jo Galyon
Special sons: Donnie Galyon and wife Alene, Dennis Galyon and wife Annette
Special step-daughters: Liz King and husband Danny, Teresa Glaze and husband Jack
Special grandchildren: Tyson and Misty Galyon, Crystal and Carel Janse Van Rensburg, Lori Beth and Chris Hawkins, Tiffany Glaze, Lindsey and Jeremy Parton, and D.J. King
Special great-grandchildren: Hunter Galyon, Garrett and Maddie Grace Hawkins, Otto and Amelia Janse Van Rensburg, Jake and Trinity Parton, and Isabella and Mikaella Born
Special sister and brother-in-law: Eula and Robert Williams
Special nieces: Charlotte Culvahouse and Jennifer Huskey
Nephews and nieces: Jerry Huskey, Barry Williams, Eddie Galyon, and Becky Galyon
Special brothers-in-law: John Helton, Clyde Loposser and wife Ruth, and Jake Loposser and wife Stella
Special sister-in-law: Gayle Thomas and husband Roger
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at LeConte Medical Center and the staff of Sevier County Healthcare Facility, as well as Ralph's many other special caregivers.
Funeral service 7 PM Monday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Metts, Rev. Jack Huskey, and Rev. Tyson Galyon officiating. Interment 10 AM Tuesday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. (www.atchleyfuneralhome.com)
