He was an employee of Dan River and a member of Stokely’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen (Penney) Scott England; and special cousin and friend Jamey Costner. He is survived by his parents, John C. and Joann Scott of Newport; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Phyllis Scott of Newport, James M. and Janet Scott of Silverdale, Washington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and C.L. Hixson of Mosheim, Pam and Russell Baxter of Pensacola, Florida, Courtney and Michael Purkey of Russellville; special cousin Lora Costner of Newport; special friend and caregiver Anita Rowland; also nieces, nephews and other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, July 8, 2013 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Wyatt and Rev. Ed Parton officiating.
