Tommy Clyde Edwards, 79, of Newport, went to be with his Lord August 14, 2013. He was a member of Newport Church of God, and retired from Cherokee Textile Mills in Sevierville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seay and Bessie (Ball) Edwards; sisters, Evelyn Gray, Irene Shelton, Ghena Ruth Edwards and Jackie Freeland; and brother, Glenn Seay Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances (Cureton) Edwards; children, Linda Blazer (Donnie ), Steve Edwards, Michael Edwards (Tami) and Christy Fowler (Jamie); grandchildren, Lyticha Jennings (Shawn), Derek Blazer (Sherry), Sara Johnson (Michael), Julie Seay (the late Dewayne), Andrea Brackins, Patricia Edwards, Anthony Edwards and Brittney Catlett; special aunt, Patricia Hall; sisters, Louise Click (Sheryl), Wanda Vanetter (Kenny), Helen Ann Haun; brother-in-law, Billy Shelton; and seventeen great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Friday, August 16, 2013 at Newport Church of God, with Pastor Craig Cutshaw officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday at the Newport Church of God prior to the funeral service.
