John B. Cureton, age 82, of Dandridge, peacefully departed this life Friday, July 10, 2009. He was of the Baptist faith. He was born April 25, 1927 in Newport, TN, a son of the late Glenn and Jesse Cureton; and was retired from Newport Utilities. Surviving is his wife, Irene Stephenson Cureton of the home; stepson, Allen Jr., (Annie) of Point Pleasant; sisters, Doris Holt, Maxine Cameron, Frances (Tommy) Edwards, Marie (Gordon) Wood, and brother, Earl (Joyce) Cureton; a sister-in-law, Jean Cureton, all of Newport, as well as several nieces and nephews. He leaves this world with many friends who loved him. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday, July 11, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 12, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Hensley and Rev. Mike Sledge officiating. Burial will follow in Swannsylvania Cemetery. There are no words to be found to show our thanks and appreciation to the Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Inc. Forever remembered will be Dr. Kenneth Hill (John’s doctor) and Tuan Fine (his R.N.) who both were always there when needed. “God Bless you both”. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John’s memory to the Newport Rescue Squad, of which he was a lifetime member, or Swannsylvania Baptist Church.
