David Tommy Cureton, 68, of Newport, went to be with his Lord Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was a retired manager with Rhyne Lumber Co. and a member of St. Tide Baptist Church. Mr. Cureton was a lifetime member of the Newport Rescue Squad.
His son, David Wynn Cureton, parents, Glenn S. and Jessie (Moore) Cureton, brothers, Herbert and Floyd Cureton and one infant sister preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Alma Jean (Smith) Cureton; son, Mark Cureton and his wife, Gloria, of Newport; sisters, Doris Holt and her husband, Cloyd, of Newport, Frances Edwards and her husband, Tommy, of Newport, Marie Wood and her husband, Gordon, of Newport, and Maxine Cameron, of Newport; brothers, John Cureton and his wife, Irene, of Dandridge, Earl Cureton and his wife, Joyce, of Newport and Loyd (Dudley) Cureton, of Newport; and grandchildren, David Ryan Cureton and Matthew Jared Cureton, both of Newport. Mr. Cureton will also be missed by special nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
Graveside service will be Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Forrest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Zane Stuart and Rev. Doug Triplett officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, May 30, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Tide Baptist Church, Newport, TN.
Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mr. David Cureton.
