(May 8, 1937 - August 31, 2006) Bill Shockley, age 69, of Newport, passed away suddenly, Thursday, August 31, 2006. Born May 8, 1937 in Rankin, TN. Bill was a retired truck driver and musician. Bill resided in Bridgeton, N.J. approximately 25 years before returning to Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy Frank and Mattie B. Easterly; parents, Buford and Louise Easterly Shockley; sister, Polly Shockley Jones; and nephew, Kerry Frank Jones of Newport; and wife, Helen Schmidt Shockley of New Jersey. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Watts Shockley of Newport; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Bud Dawson of Bybee; several nieces, nephews, stepchildren, grandchildren; and friend in Newport and New Jersey. At Bill’s request he was cremated. A memorial services will be held at a later date.
