Mrs. Sarah Holt Thornton, age 85, passed away at her home on Monday morning, October 21, 2002, after a long illness.
Born April 8, 1917, Mrs. Thornton was the daughter of Mannon and Addie Bridges Holt. She was the widow of Joe Thornton, who passed away in 1996.
She retired from Bush Brothers with thirty years of service. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Thornton was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings - J.W. and Coy Holt, Varnie Lane, Mary Cody, Nora Dedman, Beda Fox, and Helen Putman.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Betty Jo and Frank Manning, Clinton, TN, and Haroldene and Bob Layman, Dandridge; grandchildren, Leigh and Steve Ogle, Newport; Jeff and Rebecca Manning, Clinton, TN; and Steven and Carol Manning, Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren, Stevie Leigh Ogle, Newport; Josh Ogle, Knoxville; Jennifer, Jessica, Linda, and Lydia Manning, Powell, TN; sister, Ruby Williams, Knoxville; brother, Tommy Holt; sisters-in-law, Hester Holt and Ollie Holt, all of Dandridge.
The family will receive friends at Brown’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. with the funeral following at 8 p.m.
Graveside services will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
