Harty “Stewart” Powell, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away on October 16, 2014 at the age of 84.
Stewart is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” of 58 years; daughters Carolyn Williams, Lisa Feagin, and son Jim Powell; grandchildren Sarah Williams, Moriah Feagin, Shawn Feagin and Micah Feagin; and son-in-laws Eddie Williams and Tim Feagin.
Stewart was director of the Diagnostic Lab at Ellington Center for 25 years and was a deacon of Brentwood Baptist Church for the past 40 years. A graduate of the University of Georgia with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Pathology, he enjoyed running, tennis, fishing, and golf and served in the Army during the Korean War.
To celebrate his life, Mrs. Gayle Haywood and Rev. Tim Feagin conducted a service in Baskin Chapel at Brentwood Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th. Visitation was held at 1 p.m. preceding the memorial.
