Herman Davis, age 85 of Sevierville, Tennessee (formerly of Seymour) passed away Monday, January 19, 2015.
Herman retired from the Sevier County Electric System with 35 years of service.
He was a member of Dupont Baptist Church and attended McMahan Missionary Baptist Church where he played stringed instruments. He also played music at the Sevier County Nursing Home for over 20 years until his health conditions prevented it. Herman taught himself to play stringed instruments and then learned to create his own. He loved to do woodwork, and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Celia Boling Davis; infant daughter, Maria Joyce; brothers, John, Floyd, Alfred and Billy Mac; sisters, Georgia Mae Cowan and Mary Ellen King.
Survivors:
Wife of 30 years, Ruby Arwood Martin Davis; son, James Davis of Seymour; step-son, Virgil Martin and wife Angela of Sanford, NC; step-daughter, Diana Martin Hight and husband Neil of Hopkinsville, KY; grandchildren, Jamie Davis, Herman Davis, Krystal Martin Howard, Heather Martin Still, Meghan Martin Huff, Nathan Martin, Jestyne Martin, Drey Hight, Lantana Hight; nine great-grandchildren to include Isaiah Davis; brothers, Willard (June) Davis, Jim Davis and wife Shirley of Seymour; sister, Ruby Davis of Columbus, OH; several nieces and nephews; special family friend, Francis Williams.
