William "Bill" Samuel Broady, age 82 of Sevierville, passed away peacefully after a brief illness and a long journey with Alzheimer's on Monday, April 25, 2016. He was born in China to medical missionaries and came to America when he was three years of age. Bill was a graduate of Sevier County High School and the University of Tennessee. During his college years, he earned the title of Southern Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. As president of the Bank of Sevierville that later became Sun Trust, Bill helped countless Sevier Countians build financial strength. He was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sevierville, where he served as Elder, treasurer, and sang in the choir. During elected terms on the Sevier County Board of Education, he played a large role in improving educational standards and resolving segregation issues. Many of the organizations that Bill served were the Sevier County Economic Development Council, East TN Red Cross and United Way, Boy Scouts (Webelos), Pigeon Forge Planning Commission, Jaycees, Lions Club, and Alzheimer Association.
Mr. Broady was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Robert and Ellen Broady and his brothers, Bobby and John Broady.
Mr. Broady is survived by his wife, Carolyn Headrick Broady; children, Dr. Nancy Broady Lataitis and husband Richard, Bob and Lora Louise Broady, Scott and Eleanor Broady; grandchildren, Rachel and Patrick Lataitis, Nicholas, Carly and Ellie Broady, Sam, Anne and Kate Broady; brother, Dr. Joe Broady and wife Mary Ann; sisters, JoAnn Broady Cassery, Barbara Hodges and husband Jimmy; sisters-in-law, Bessie Eble and Janet Headrick; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maryville College, William C., Robert A. and Ellen C. Broady Memorial Scholarship, 502 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Maryville, TN 37804;

The family will receive friends 5:30-8 PM Friday at Atchley Funeral Home, 118 E. Main Street, Sevierville, TN 37862. A private interment will be held in Eusebia Cemetery.
