Dewey Cooper, 86, passed of Maryville, passed away Saturday November 12, 2005, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. He was born May 6, 1919, in Cades Cove. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in Germany in WWII where he was a P.O.W. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearly and Vina Hearon Cooper; first wife, Margaret Murphy Cooper; second wife, Josie Baker Cooper; stepdaughter, Peggy Garcia; step-grandson, Billy Joe Jones. He is survived by his daughter and husband, Pat and Randy Word; sons and wives, Dennis and Shirley Cooper, Leslie and Linda Gass; stepson and wife, Arkie and Phyllis Baker; stepdaughter and husband, Shannon and Lamar Reynolds; stepdaughter, Debbie Campbell; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday November 15, 2005, at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville with Rev. Arkie Baker and Rev. Kurt Steinbach officiating. The family and friends will meet at Sherwood Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 16, 2005, for a graveside service with full military honors provided by the Volunteer State Honor Guard. The family will receive friend from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be e-mailed to memorialfh@Yahoo.com.
