Hugh B. McCarter, 78, of Dandridge passed away Saturday, November 1, 2003 at his residence.
Hugh served his country for 14 years as a seaman in the Navy. Part of his service was during World War II. Besides serving his country, he was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Maryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Alice Hembree McCarter; brothers, John and Roy McCarter and sister, Martha McCarter.
Leaving behind to mourn his loss is his loving wife, Iva Ownby McCarter; children, Hugh James McCarter and wife, Barbara Ann, Juanita Barron and husband Walter, Wendy Foster and husband Larry, Cynthia Rayfield, Theresa Cooter, Verena Kenyon and husband Joseph,; brother, Lee McCarter and wife Nancy. Besides the immediate family Hugh leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and cousins to mourn his passing on to a better life.
Service will be 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2003 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andrew Clay Clabo officiating. Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4 at Resthaven Cemetery where an honor guards will perform military rites. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 3 at Rawlings Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made at the funeral home.
