DAVIS, LILA GOSSETT - passed away on December 3, 2006 leaving all pain and suffering to join her husband, Arthur F. Davis who preceded her death in 1999, after 63 years of marriage. She was a Christian and a member of Boyds Creek Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and "mother" to many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her husband were: parents, W. T. and Nettie Ann Gossett; sisters, Nell (Roy) McCarter, Lucille (Charlie) Whaley, Willie (Bun) Delozier, and Myrel (Paul) Fain and special brother, Hobart T. (Julia) Gossett. A special friend, Ruth Love. She is survived by: many nieces and nephews, great- and great-great nieces and nephews, special friends, Wilma Davis, Pat Moody, Floyd and Margaret Hampton, Rose and l.D. Alexander. Special appreciation goes to all of Lila's nurses and staff at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge for the special love she received. Susan Asbury, Director of Social Services, consistently provided support to Lila and her family. In addition, love and appreciation goes to Natalie and staff of Caris Hospice. lila's transition to her heavenly home was better paved through their care and counseling to Lila and her family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Highland South Funeral Home with funeral services following at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Bill Stephens officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Prospect Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet in the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Tennessee Chapter, 2200 Sutherland Avenue, Suite H102, Knoxville, TN 37919.
