BUSH, EDNA GREENE - age 80 of Newport, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee surrounded by her family. Edna is preceded in death by: her husband, Shannon Bush; father, Joe Greene; and her mother, Carrie Price Greene; brother, Forest Greene; brother-in-law, James Bush; and sister-in-law, Reva Bush; and a special sister-in-law, Eula Greene. She is survived by: her daughter, Bettye Bush Grooms and Marvin Keys; grandson, Shannon Bush Grooms and his wife Kathy; great grandchildren, William Charles Bush Grooms and Sarah Beth Grooms; brother, Buck Greene; special nephew, Roger Greene, and his wife Margaret, all of Newport, TN; special great niece, Amanda Peters and husband Bill of Austin, Texas; sisters-in-law, Zola Mae Ketner of Dandridge, TN, Mamie C. Hughes and husband Ponder of Dandridge, TN, Priscilla Jane Garing, Anniston, Alabama, Ann Russell of Dandridge, TN; special friends, Mary and Billy Violet, Dan Grooms, Mary Greene, Ann Watts, and Helen Bush. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 15th followed by the funeral service at 8 p.m. at Manes Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 16th in Union Cemetery. Dr. Charlie Boggan and Tom Mooty will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Newport Rescue Squad, 111 Underwood Road, Newport, TN 37821. The family would especially like to thank Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Tammy Francis, Danese Ball, Betty Strange, Mary Greene, and Charlie Boggan for their special care; and a very special nurse at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital, Knoxville, TN, Mr. Terry Ball. Edna Greene Bush, age 80, of Newport, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006, at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by her family. She was born on, September 18, 1925 in Cocke County Tennessee. She was the daughter of Joe and Carrie Price Greene of the Grassy Fork Community. She was united in marriage to Shannon Bush on Feb. 15, 1945 in Newport Tennessee. They have lived beside Bush Construction Company since 1975. In 1951, Edna and Shan began a construction company that became known as Bush Construction Company. They managed the company until 1983 when they retired from the company. Their lifelong work and love was Bush Construction Company. Edna attended West End Baptist Church until her illness. She was avidly involved in serving the community through the support of the Newport Rescue Squad and the Shrine Paper Sale. Edna was always involved in the community and spent her life serving and helping others throughout Cocke County. Edna spent her entire life caring for her family. She enjoyed camping, University of Tennessee football, and stockcar racing. Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Shannon Bush; father, Joe Greene, and her mother, Carrie Price Greene; brother, Forest Greene; brother-in-law, James Bush; and sister-in-law, Reva Bush; and a special sister-in-law, Eula Greene.
