Gertie Jennings, 95, of Greeneville died Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Laughlin Health Care.
She was a homemaker and member of Mountain View Disciples of Christ Church
The family stated that she was a good wife, mother, grandmother and sister who was also a very good Christian lady.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Eula Peters and was preceded in death by her husband, D.P. Jennings; a son, Dan Jenning, Jr.; two sisters, Mable Philback and Idabell Craddock; a half brother, Talf Peters; a daughter-in-law, Doris Jennings and three stepchildren.
Survivors include daughter and her spouse Joyce and Justin Shelton; son, Jerrell Jennings; Grandchildren and their spouses, Diane and E. J. Seay, Jeff and Teresa Jennings, Ronnie Parton, Angela Ball, Tammy Gomaz, B.P. Shelton; Jeanenne and Charlie Blazer; Great-grandchildren and spouses, Kim and Daniel Stinnett, Keith Seay, Chris Henderson, Paul Partin, Tonya Partin, Andy Gregg, April Gregg, Tara Chappel, Michael Partin, Michealle Partin; Brother, Astor Peters; Sister and her spouse, Nattlelee and Dennis Holt; and special friend, Rosa Lee Jennings.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 26, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral will be 8 p.m. Thursday, December 26, at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel in Greeneville.
Interment will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 27, at Union Cemetery, Newport with the Rev. Manson Lee and Brother Larry Wells officiating.
Pallbearers will be Keith Seay, Chris Henderson, Andy Gregg, Jeff Jennings, B.P. Shelton, Charlie Blazer, Michael Partin, and Paul Partin.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Friday morning for the committal service.
