CAMPOBELLO, SC-- Lewis Chapman Parks, 87, of 1225 Hammett Road, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, at St. Luke Hospital in Columbus, NC. He was the son of the late Burey H. and Edna Becknell Parks.
He was retired from Spartanburg Steel after 20 years of service and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Parks; son, Jeff C. Parks of Inman; granddaughter, Emily Kay Parks Inman and husband Barron of Gatlinburg, TN; and a brother-in-law, Gene Lawson of Campobello.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Lawson and Alma Strange; and a brother-in-law, Charlie Strange.
The family will meet friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Apalache Baptist Church in Greer. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM following visitation with the Rev. Dr. Tim Clark and the Rev. Eddie Cooper officiating. A eulogy will be given by his brother-in-law Ray Raines. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Inman.
Pallbearers will be Andy West, Mike Campbell, Russell Burns, Bufford Bennett, Terry Kercher and Ronnie Pack.
Memorials may be made to either the Cemetery Fund or the Missions Fund at Holly Springs Baptist Church, 251 Hannon Rd., Inman, SC 29349.
