BERRY, EARL H. - age 88 of Madison, Alabama, formerly of Knoxville and Chattanooga, passed away September 17, 2006 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Alabama. 1936 graduate of Young High School, Knoxville and 1938 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Earl was associated with and a licensed funeral director and embalmer with Berry Funeral Home from its organization in 1928 until 1965. He then began work at Provident Insurance Company as a Company Representative in Lincoln, Nebraska and Chattanooga, TN until his retirement in 1982. Member of First Presbyterian Church, Chattanooga. Past Master and member of South Knoxville Masonic Lodge #769 F&AM. Preceded in death by: wife, Margurette Arthur Berry; parents, Ralph L. and Myrtle Henderlight Berry; sisters, Thelma Ford and Clara Bolin; brothers, Fred O. Berry, Sr. and Ralph L. Berry, Jr. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Jennie Berry Johnston and Dwight Johnston, Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Laurie and husband Dr. Jack Englert, Huntsville, AL; Lisa and husband John Parkes, Madison, AL; Julie and husband Carlos Saddler, Murfreesboro, TN; James D. Johnston, Jr. and wife Renee, Bowling Green, KY; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Brandon Englert, Luke Kelly, James and Jarrod Parkes, Alexis Parkes, Bryan and Elizabeth Anne Saddler, Israel David, Samuel Isaac, and Josiah James Johnston. Funeral 1 pm Wednesday, Berry Chapel, Rev. Jimmy Johnston officiating. Interment to follow at Asbury Cemetery. Pallbearers will be great-grandsons: Daniel and Brandon Englert, Luke Kelly, James and Jarrod Parkes, Bryan Saddler. Honorary Pallbearers will be: grandsons-in-law, Dr. Jack Englert, John F. Parkes, and Carlos Saddler. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army whom Earl was a faithful supporter.
