Ralph Roger Godwin age 81, passed away Jan. 3, 2015 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Roger was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He attended Jefferson County Schools as well as Carson Newman College. He played football at Carson Newman College for 4 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict for 2 years. He volunteered for 17 years as a Coach and League President in the Jefferson City Little League program and Coached the team that won the State Title in 1979. He was elected to the first City Recreation Hall Of Fame in1995. He served on the Jefferson City Planning Commission for ten years and five of those years he was President. Roger managed the AMOCO Station in Jefferson City for several years and worked in the maintenance department at Jefferson Memorial Hospital where he retired. He was of the Methodist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Iva M. Godwin, brothers, Jack and Eugene, and sister, Gloria. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anne of the home and son, Keith and wife Judy, and beloved granddaughter, Kasey, who was the “light of his life.” He is also survived by his sister Patricia Spivey, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home. Private graveside will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church, c/o Tuesday’s Neighbors, 1610 Russell Ave., Jefferson City, TN 37760.
