Jewell Holtsinger Hodge, of Dandridge, TN passed from life to eternity with God on January 17, 2003 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville following a brief illness. Jewell was a graduate of Ward Belmont College of Nashville and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a B.S. Degree in Home Economics. She taught in the Jefferson County School System for 23 years. Jewell was alongtime member of the Dandridge Garden Club, serving as president at one time, and was a member of the Dandridge Library Board, serving as president of it also. Member of the Jefferson County Retured Teacgers Associationm Kes Amies, Sahs Sous and the Ladies Auxillary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alma Holtsinger and was preceded in death by sister, Celeste Carson; brothers, George Arthur and Albert Eugene Holtsinger.
Survived by Frank C. Hodge, husband of 57 years; daughter and son in law, Jill and Jim Overholt of Newport; son and daughter in law, Tom and Becky Hodge of Lexington; granddaughter, Laura Overholt; grandson, Brian Overholt, both of Newport; step grandson, Nathan Moore of Lexington, KY; nephew abd niece, Jerry and Sally Hodge of Dandridge; nieces and nephews, Cris and Bill Hatcher of Daytona Beach, FL, Gina and Frank Busby of Maitland, FL, Carolyn and Gary cornelious of Clinton, Mary Celeste and Bill Thurbor of Maryland; niece, Vivian Carson of Clinton; several great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests tht memorial contributions be made to the Jewell holtsinger Hodge Memorial Fund at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 215, Dandridge, TN 37725. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Hopewell Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mike Chamberlain, Rev. Bill Middleton and Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2003 at the funeral home.
