HELTON, MR. CHESTER "SHAG" - age 62, of Knoxville, died Sunday, January 17, 1999, at University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a member of Vestal Baptist Church and a member of The Atomic Speedway Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Helton. He is survived by his wife, Loraine Helton; mother, Nova Malone and stepfather, Clarence; sons, Michael Helton and Jimmy Rolen; daughters, Kathie Birdwell and husband, Alan from Cookeville, Tenn. and Rhonda Hall; brother, Gene Helton; sisters, Margie Foster and husband, Mike and Mary Ruth Selleck and husband, Bud; grandchildren, Jamie and Jackie Hunley and Brandy and Brandon Parris; great-grandchild, Timothy Hunley; nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. The family will receive friends Monday, January 18, 1999, from 6-8 p.m. at the Highland South Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow the visitation with Rev. Jim Kitts officiating. Eulogy will be given by Bill Russell. Friends and family will meet Tuesday, January 19, 1999, at 10 a.m. at the Highland South Funeral Home Chapel for the interment service. Interment will be in Highland South Cemetery with Michael Helton, Jimmy Rolen, Marlin Bull, Richard Mullins, Mike Foster and Randy Helton serving as pallbearers and David Helton and Junior Rice as honorary pallbearers.
