Johnny Andrew Headrick, 76, of Newton died Dec. 11, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. He was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Blount County to the late Andy and Zella Ball Headrick. Mr. Headrick was retired from Century Furniture and he was a master wood craftsman. He also thoroughly enjoyed his many pets. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Charles Headrick and a sister Mary Kathryn Floyd.
Survivors include his wife Martha Holsclaw Headrick of the home; sister, Dorothy Whitted of Metolious, Ore., nephew, Steve Dixon and his wife Barbara of Sevierville; great-niece, Miranda D. Allison and husband Aaron of Sevierville; great-nephew, Matthew Dixon of Sevierville; mother-in-law, Lillian Holsclaw of Hickory; sister, Maxine Bond and her husband Bob of W. Columbia, S.C.
The funeral was held Wednesday, Dec. 13, at St. Paul's Reformed Church in Startown. Interment was Thursday at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or Baptist Children's Home, 2598 Reynolda Road., Winston Salem, NC 27565-2758.
Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post No. 48.
Bass-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory served the family of Johnny Andrew Headrick.
