DIXON, ROBERT DEWEY - age 90 of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. He was a member of Middlebrook Pike Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director, trustee, and treasurer. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, member of Teamsters Union # 519, retired from Yellow Freight Systems. Preceded in death by parents, Mary Ettie and Pinkney Arthur Dixon; brothers and sisters, Rex, Rufus, Lee Valentine, Nora Evans and Sue Lowe. Survived by his wife of 67 1/2 years, Mabel (Bill) Dixon; sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Janice, Jim and Pat and Gregg and Cathey Dixon; daughter, Gayle Alley; grandchildren Greg (Cindy), Ronnie (Denise), Sherri (Jeff), Scott (Kim), Abigail (Nate) and Kevin (Samantha); great grandchildren, Taylor, Joseph and John Dewey Robinson, Ashton, Cody and Allison Dixon, Rex and Lauren Alley; brother, Oscar (Marie); several nieces and nephews and special niece, Wanda and husband, Charles. The family wishes to express special thanks and appreciation to the staff of Ben Atchley State Veterans Home. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday at Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 8 pm. Reverends George Gilbert and Tony Brewer officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:15 am Friday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery for a 9:30 am Committal Service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
