Stella Mae Lamon, born January 19, 1926, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the age of 89. She was a member of Sevierville Church of God where she taught children's Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.
Stella was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years McKinley Lamon; her parents, Rosie and Lydle Cantrell; and brothers, Wayne and June Cantrell.
She is survived by her son, Ernest Lamon and wife, Lisa; daughters, Hazel Taylor and husband, Larry, Linda Lonas and husband, Marvin; grandchildren, Angela Sims and husband, Brian, Jeff Lonas and wife, Beverly, Keith Lamon and wife, Jennifer, Stephanie Register, Kim Rentsch, Karen Chambers and husband, Tim; great-grandchildren, Brittany Sims, Nicholas Sims, Styne Chambers, Sam Lonas, Makinley Lonas, Kyle Lamon and wife Tabitha, Chelsey Lamon, Dylan Lamon, Kayden Lamon, Sara Whaley, Katie Whaley, Jameson Whaley, Manning Rentsch; sisters, Aileen Ehrenzeller and husband Jack, Velma Dillenger; brothers, J.C. Cantrell and wife Annalee, Clyde Cantrell and wife Jean, Larry Cantrell and wife Insetta.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stella's home care nurses Ruth, Sharon and Pam and to all the nurses and ladies at Asbury Alzheimers unit 2 South who were so wonderful to take care of her.
The family will receive friends 3-5 PM Sunday with funeral service to follow at 5 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Cook and Rev. Victor Alley officiating. Interment 11 AM Monday in Pigeon Forge Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Herschell Baker officiating. Pallbearers will be Keith Lamon, Jeff Lonas, Dylan Lamon, Sam Lonas, Tim Chambers, Nick Sims, Brian Sims, Kyle Lamon, Kayden Lamon and Jameson Whaley.
