In Memoriam Blanche McCarter Huskey 1917-2011
Blanche Huskey, age 94, passed away into the loving arms of our Lord on Friday, September 30, 2011.
She was born January 30, 1917 in Sevier County, the daughter of Richard and Elza McCarter.
Preceded in death by husband, A. Beecher Huskey and daughter, Bonnie McCoig.
A lifelong resident of Huskey’s Grove Community and Church, she was a devoted Christian who lived her life in God’s grace and in faithfulness to her family, church and friends. She was an extraordinary Mother and Grandmother. This was further evidenced by over 60 foster children she welcomed into her home with the same love and devotion.
Mrs. Huskey learned weaving as a young girl and was a weaver for Arrow Craft Shop in Gatlinburg for many years.. Many beautiful and cherished items were created upon her looms.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Beulah Yvonne and Rev. Pete Koster of Seymour ; Brenda Ann and Dr. Jack Owenby, of Mt. Juliet; Rudy McCoig of Cosby. Also six grandchildren, Sonya McCoig, Roger McCoig, Pete Koster, Patrick Koster, David Owenby and Mary Ann Dodson; eight great grandchildren; sister, Mae Vickery of Morristown, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Fort Sanders Nursing Home staff and Drs. Tolley, Burke and Gust, for their excellent care these past years.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 3, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Pete Koster officiating and grandchildren giving the eulogy.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at Rawlings, Sevierville with the interment to follow the service at Huskey’s Grove Cemetery.
