Celestion Cogdill Bible, 97, of Del Rio, went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 16, 2003 at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
Celestion and her husband, Tillman, operated a gas station and grocery store in Nough (Slabtown) for 35 years. They were members of the First Church of God in Del Rio.
Celestion was preceded in death by her husband, Tillman Bible; their infant son, Hershel Bible; and son, Oris T. Bible; parents, Joseph and Margaret (Shetley) Cogdill; sisters, Leora Moore Finchum, Gertrude Ball, Hattie Siler, and Aurolia Pandzik; brothers, Frank Cogdill, Jim Cogdill, Bailey Cogdill, and Arlie Cogdill.
She is survived by son, Joseph M. Bible and his wife, Faye, of Del Rio; daughter, Lois B. Finchum, of Del Rio; daughter-in-law, Reva Bible, the widow of Oris Bible; grandchildren: Daira Finchum, Tammy Norwood and her husband Marvin, Duane Finchum and his wife Betty, Dwight Finchum, Beverly Bible and her husband Dr. Thomas Porter, David Bible and his wife Anne, Kenan Bible and his wife Diane, Darius Bible and his wife Kathy; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; brother, Willis Cogdill and his wife Leone Kelly; and sister-in-law, Lena Cogdill.
Mrs. Bible will also be missed by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Ashley and Rev. Bill Murr officiating.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Clark Cemetery at Deep Gap.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, February 18, 2003, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at Brown Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Bible, Duane Finchum, Kenan Bible, Darius Bible, Dwight Finchum, Sean Newsome, Clay Bible, and Dustin Bible.
Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mrs. Celestion Cogdill Bible.
