"RUDY" - age 82, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday March 11, 2009. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, was veteran of the US Army serving in WWII, and retired from the Magnavox Company. He was preceded in death by: wife, Charlotte Fawver Byrd; parents, Warren and Trula Byrd; brothers, Carlos and Earl Byrd; sisters, Gladys Thomas and Ruth Bridges. Survivors include: daughters, Brenda and husband Mike Glenn, Carol and husband Bill McCann, and Barbara Byrd; sons, Alan and Mark Byrd; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Merle Byrd; and special friend, Mary Osborne. The funeral service will be on Friday March 13th at 8:00 PM at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Cooke officiating. Family and friends will meet on Saturday at 11:00 AM for a graveside service at Thorngrove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 PM prior to the service.
