Burns, Ell Ray age 77 of Maryville died Friday, July 19, 2002 at Blount Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was retired from Alcoa with 42 years of service and a member of the 25 Year Club.
Preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Mary Burns of Walland; brothers, Odell, Chester and Wayne Burns.
Survivors include loving and devoted wife Esther Burns; son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Janice Burns of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bob Hilzinger of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kelvin Burns and wife Teresa, Shannon Loftin and husband T. J. , Joshua, Nathan, and Krista Hilzinger; special love of his life, great grandson, Justin Burns; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Beulah Burns, John and Marie Burns; brother, Clifford Burns; sister, Murrell Maples; sisters-in-law, Bea Burns and Edith Burns.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002 in the West Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Carl White and Rev. Earl Taylor officiating with the Interment to follow at Clark's Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience after 9:00 a.m. Monday at Smith Mortuary. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday at Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.
