Newsome, Jr., 69, of 6249 Williams Chapel Church Rd., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at his residence. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at Hanes-Lineberry, North Elm Chapel. Burial will follow in Westminster Gardens. Mr. Newsome was of the Methodist faith and belonged to the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was retired from Signal Delivery Service. Mr. Newsome is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gladys Newsome of the home; daughter, Doris Smith of Pine Knoll Shores; sister, Laura Jean Wyatt of Pinehurst; brothers, Timothy B. Newsome of Greensboro, William Jerry Newsome of Long Beach and John G. Newsome of Greensboro; grandchildren, Wendy Gibson of Asheboro, Lori Graham of High Point; and Donna Lynn Lesser of Atlantic Beach; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Gibson Lesser of Wilson and Erin Lindsey Graham of High Point. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
