Cecil Alvin Gregg, 86, of Greeneville, passed away Thursday evening, December 26, 2002, after a lingering illness.
Before retiring, he was owner and operator of Gregg's Grocery Store on Highland Avenue for 45 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and attended the Men's Bible Class as long as his health permitted.
He was a 50-year Mason and member of Greeneville Masonic Lodge #3 F&AM.
He was the son of the late Jim and Tennie Sue Trammell Gregg Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Baxter Gregg; one sister, Ethel Parks; and three brothers, Elmer Gregg, Mack Gregg and Gene Wyatt.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Marcine Gregg of Greeneville; granddaughter, Tabatha Fender of Greeneville; great-granddaughter, Christine Fender of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Nora Tweed.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2002, at Kiser Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Lindsey and Rev. Jimmy Fillers officiating. Interment will be in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers: Lowell Gregg, Jack Gregg, David Trammell, Everette Trammell, Fred Gregg, and James Parks. Honorary pallbearers: Orville Walton, Men of Roby Center, The Men's Bible Class of First Baptist Church, and all the nurses who were so kind to him during his illness.
The family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kiser Funeral Home.
